MY #1 FORAGED ITEM - BURDOCK
Let’s dig into one of my favorite topics - wild medicinals and herbal remedies!
First up, burdock! This wild weed I let grow just about anywhere it pops up, including right outside my front door. We normally pull these wild medicinals, not realizing God is sending us medicine. It saved my 4 year old Dayne from going to the emergency room, and harvesting is as easy as collecting the leaves, washing, & drying them.
HOW TO IDENTIFY:
This is what burdock looks like at the end of the summer. All parts of burdock are edible. It’s known to kill cancer cells. It flushes toxins away from the body. Burdock can be dried and powdered (or eat leaves fresh as a vegetable) for an iron supplement. The roots flush heavy metals.
HOW WE USE:
Choose a leaf the size you would like and submerge in a pot of water. Allow to wilt and then remove from water. Once removed from water allow to cool for a short time, about 20-30 seconds. Flatten leaf and place on wound. I love this because once the burdock is on, the pain starts being pulled out. Change the dressing once daily until healed.
Other uses include as a dietary supplement or teas. This is not medical advice. Always do your own research. Be your own doctor and start implementing these precious medicinal plants into your daily life.
