BEESWAX VOTIVES
Beeswax votives are such a beautiful and fun craft that helps bring cozy in when the days are so short and light low.
Melt down beeswax. It takes a bit to melt so start at least an hour before you want to start. I used a liner in my crockpot since beeswax can be quite tricky to clean up.
Fill balloons with water to the size you would like your votives to be.
Dip the balloons into the hot wax approximately 7-8 times. This step isn’t super kid-friendly since it involves hot wax. I have let my kids help and watch really closely, but do what feels safe for you.
When you have completed 7-8 dips, begin adding pressed flowers into the wax and continue to dip until you have reached at least 10 dips, more for thicker bowls.
While the wax is still soft, place the balloon upright onto a paper plate to flatten the bottom while it dries. This will allow your votive to sit flat with the candle inside once the balloon is removed.
Once the beeswax is dry, snip the ends of the balloons to drain the water and remove balloons.
Place votive candles or tea lights inside. Light and enjoy!
