Soil Blocking 101

With fall gardening in full swing, I’ve been spending a lot of time planting new seeds. I’m convinced soil blocking will forever have my heart! Have you ever given it a try?

Benefits:
👏🏻Planting them out is a snap
👏🏻Plants don’t become root bound and wrap themselves around inside the pot
👏🏻Many veggies (like peas) can be started indoors

There is a bit of a learning curve getting the right mixture so the blocks stick together, but after trial and error, this is what I have found works for me. The following supplies create a large amount of soil so I won’t need to buy for a few years!

RECIPE:
🌱4 parts potting soil. I like to use a peat free organic one
🌱1.5 parts coconut coir
🌱0.5 parts greensand
🌱Scoop of mycorrhiza
🌱Dash of cinnamon

This recipe is from Blossom and Branch Farm. She is amazing!
