looking for something specific?About my homestead…We are a family of 7 in Northeast Ohio (zone 5b) with a focus on growing chickens, flowers, herbal medicines, and food. We live right in the heart of Amish country on three acres. This seems like a great amount for a small homestead; however, half of the property was a gravel parking lot...
I had to get creative to make this a usable garden space! Over the past few years, it’s been transformed into raised cedar garden beds and a “raised rows” garden bed- a blend of no dig and back to eden garden right on top of that gravel pad!
I believe a lush garden space can be made in less than ideal conditions. No matter where you find yourself, a patio balcony or large acreage or dusty gravel pad, we can make the most of what we have to grow delicious and whole foods.
What you’ll find here…There is so much freedom in understanding where food comes from, how it is grown, and ways to preserve the abundance God blesses us with. One little seed has the potential to bloom and grow!
One day, one step at a time. We will sow, water, tend, harvest, and preserve our way through our gardens as we learn a little more about homesteading together.
